Water Reflections

A Journey of Hope

This recent painting ‘Water Reflections’, is a heartfelt concept for a larger project dedicated to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. After attending the Beat the Burn 002 Ball in October, where we successfully crowdfunded an art project for the Burns Unit at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Westmead, I felt inspired to create a piece of art that promotes hope and healing. The stones cast into the water create ripples; each stone symbolizes the countless wishes made while navigating the long and difficult journey of recovery after traumatic events.

My connection to this cause comes from a place of deep understanding. At the age of 10, I faced a life threatening cerebellum rupture (AVM) that left me paralyzed on my left side. After an intense brain surgery and extensive rehabilitation, I was fortunate to make a full recovery. As I grew older, I discovered that art holds the power to heal and inspire hope, especially in moments when the human spirit feels its lowest. Now giving back to a children’s hospital, it feels like offering my gratitude to the very energy that saved my life.

In creating the ‘Water Reflections’ painting, I spent time outdoors, throwing stones into the water committing myself to making a piece of art that helps others during difficult times. Through this painting, I strive to capture not only the beauty of life but also the emotional depth of resilience and aspiration. This experience filled me with extreme humility.

As I continue exploring conepts for this project, I aim to reflect on the intertwined journey of healing and hope, reminding us all of the power of art in moments of need. If you would like to know more about my charity projects click here.
