Painting for a Purpose
Supporting Ambulance Wish Queensland Through Art
Following my mural project at the Dove Palliative Care Ward, I was invited to create an artwork in support of Ambulance Wish Queensland at their annual gala fundraiser in Brisbane. Having seen firsthand the incredible impact that compassionate care can have on patients and families, it was an honour to contribute to an organisation dedicated to granting final wishes for people facing end-of-life challenges.
As part of the event, I created a live painting titled “Ascend”, inspired by my two sisters. Developed both in the lead-up to and throughout the evening, the artwork evolved before guests' eyes, providing a unique opportunity to share the creative process and engage with attendees as the piece came to life.
Rather than being auctioned, the painting was raffled among the approximately 300 guests attending the gala. The painting generated plenty of excitement throughout the evening, and the eventual winner later told me he wanted the artwork so badly that he purchased 20 raffle tickets to improve his chances of taking it home. Events like these remind me of the power of art to bring people together, inspire generosity, and create a meaningful impact within our communities. To commemorate the inspiring story behind Ascend and its contribution to Ambulance Wish Queensland, I have released a beautiful 24" x 20" acrylic-sealed edition of the artwork. This special release is strictly limited to just five signed prints, offering my collectors a rare opportunity to own a piece connected to a truly remarkable cause.
