Working with a live model provides a complete academic experience, creating an intimate connection between natural beauty and artistic expression. This course deepens the understanding of anatomy and three-dimensional form, enabling accurate representation of the human figure while developing transferable skills for painting and sculpture. Master the sight-size measurement method for precise observation and faithful form reproduction. Structured drawing sessions focused on observation, proportion, and anatomy will sharpen your ability to capture life while building artistic confidence and skill.

All Materials (Arches Paper, Charcoal, and eraser, $100 value)
Beginning construction
Techniques to start and finish a drawing
Techniques to use charcoal
Values and color theory
Proportions and anatomy
Lighting and composition building
Course Description:
Students work from the live model from morning till afternoon. During the 4-day session they will produce a portrait drawing and a figure drawings using different media and materials: the first will be drawn in charcoal on white paper, and the other will be completed on toned paper using charcoal and white chalk. Students receive daily individual critiques, to help guide them towards a fully resolved and accurate drawing.
