The Artist Path:

Cliffs of Macquarie Lighthouse

This past weekend was a significant step in building my body of work for the Watsons Bay markets. I ventured to the historic Macquarie Lighthouse, one of Australia’s oldest beacons of history and beauty, providing the perfect backdrop for my latest artistic statement. The cliffs here allowed me to merge my passion for outdoor painting with the breathtaking natural beauty of Sydney’s coastline. Inspired by Monet’s masterful cliff paintings, I set out to create a piece that echoed his vision while infusing it with my own unique perspective.

When I create local art, I strive to capture scenes that resonate with both myself and the community. At the Cliffs of Macquarie Lighthouse, I aimed to reflect the deep connection that locals feel with this landscape, often traversed by those who use its walkways. This experience was inspiring and aloud me to stretch my artistic vision in new directions. After all, being an artist involves exploring uncharted territories within oneself and in my opinion is what keeps the artistic spirit alive.

I'm thrilled with how the painting turned out. The moment where sky meets water and clashes with the solid cliffs, felt both intense and calm; reminding me of mother natures power. This painting resonated with lots of the locals walking past and cheering me on.

I can’t wait to return to this stunning scenery for a different painting, eager to explore new compositions and deepen my connection with the Macquarie Lighthouse in Vaucluse.
