A Night of Hope

SunnyKids Mayoral Ball

Friends! What an unforgettable evening at the SunnyKids Mayoral Ball! I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of such an inspiring night, surrounded by so many generous and compassionate people coming together for a cause that truly matters.

There was something incredibly moving about seeing a room full of people united by a shared purpose: protecting vulnerable children and families, standing against domestic violence, and helping shape a kinder, safer future for the next generation.

One of the highlights of my evening was seeing my live painting, Hope, auctioned for an incredible $6,000! This broke my previous fundraising records at charity galas, and I couldn't be more grateful to everyone who helped make that possible. Even more importantly, the evening raised over $100,000 to support the incredible work SunnyKids does for children and families experiencing crisis.

The Story Behind Hope

I created Hope as a reflection on the innocence of childhood and the responsibility we carry in shaping the next generation.

When I look into the face of a child, I see a story that is still being written. That's why I chose to let parts of the portrait dissolve into abstraction. Some areas are defined, while others remain unfinished, representing the endless possibilities of a life still taking shape.

Those abstract forms symbolise the influence of encouragement, opportunity, guidance, love, and the environment we create around our children.

I believe that while we are born with innocence, the circumstances and experiences we encounter can profoundly shape who we become. As adults, parents, and members of a community, we have a responsibility to protect that innocence and give young people something positive to believe in.

I called this painting Hope because that is what I see in every child's face: the possibility of who they may become and the difference they may one day make in the world.
